Connecting the Power

(USA, Canadian and Australian models)

• Before you plug in the TX-NR801/TX-NR801E, con-
firm that all connections have been made properly.
• Turning on the power may cause a momentary power
surge, which might interfere with other electrical
equipment on the same circuit, such as computers. If
this happens, use a wall outlet on a different circuit.
(All models other than USA, Canadian and Austra-
lian models)
• The TX-NR801/TX-NR801E is shipped with the
main power (POWER) switch in the on position
(
). When the power cord is plugged in for the
ON
first time, the TX-NR801/TX-NR801E will automati-
cally enter the standby state and the STANDBY indi-
cator will light (same condition after step 2 below).

Turning on the Power

Plug the power cord into an AC
wall outlet.

Press the POWER switch to set the
TX-NR801/TX-NR801E to standby
ON
OFF
state.

Press the STANDBY/ON button to
turn on the TX-NR801/TX-NR801E.

The display will light up and the
STANDBY indicator will turn off.
If you press the STANDBY/ON button
STANDBY
again, the TX-NR801/TX-NR801E
returns to the standby state.

Turning on the Power from the
Remote Controller
Before you can use the remote controller, you must
perform steps 1 and 2 above and place the TX-NR801/
TX - NR801E in the standby state.

Press the RCVR MODE button.
The RCVR MODE button lights.

Press the ON button to turn on the
TX-NR801/TX-NR801E (take it out
of the standby state).
To return the TX-NR801/TX-NR801E
to the standby state, press the
STANDBY button.
Memory backup
The TX-NR801/TX-NR801E uses a battery-less mem-
ory backup system in order to retain radio presets and
other settings when it is unplugged or in the case of a
power failure. Although no batteries are required, the
TX-NR801/TX-NR801E must be plugged into an AC
outlet in order to charge the backup system.
(On other than USA, Canadian and Australian models,
the TX-NR801/TX-NR801E's POWER switch must be
set to ON in order to charge the backup system.) Once it
has been charged, the TX-NR801/TX-NR801E will
retain the settings for several weeks, although this
depends on the environment and time will be shorter in
humid climates.
