Using the Self-Propel Drive

To operate the self-propel drive, squeeze the self-propel-drive bar (1) toward the handle and hold it. Figure

Note: The machine has a fixed maximum speed of approximately 1.86 m/h.
To disengage the self-propel drive, release the self-propel lever.

Shutting off the Engine

To shut off the engine, release the blade-control bar.
Note: Disconnect and ground the spark-plug wire before you leave the machine to prevent someone from
accidently starting the engine.

Mulching the Grass Clippings

Warning: The blade is sharp; contacting the blade can result in serious personal injury.
Ensure that the mulching plug is in place before you mulch the clippings.
Never engage the blade without the mulching plug in place, the grass bag installed, or the rear door
down.
If the grass bag is on the machine, remove it; refer to Removing the Grass Bag (page 22).
