During Operation

Starting the Machine

1. Ensure that the battery pack is installed in the
machine; refer to Installing the Battery Pack.
2. Insert the electric-start button into the electric
starter switch (1). Figure 13.
3. Squeeze the blade-control bar (2) and hold it to
the handle. Figure 13.
4. Press the electric-start button and keep it
pressed until the motor starts (3). Figure 13.

Using the Self-Propel Lever

To operate the self-propel drive, squeeze the self-
propel lever (1) toward the handle and hold it. Figure
14.
Ground speed may be adjusted by operating the
variable speed control (2). Push forward to speed up
and pull back to slow down. Figure 14.

Variable Speed Control
To disengage the self-propel drive, release the self-
propel lever.
When the self-propel drive lever is disengaged the
mower may be pushed. This feature is useful when
mowing in confined areas.

Bagging the Grass Clippings

Use the grass bag when you want to collect grass
and leaf clippings from the lawn.

Installing the Grass Bag

1. If necessary, assemble the grass bag; refer to
Grass Bag Assembly, Figure 6.
2. Raise the rear deflector (1), lower the grass bag
and hook into position (2). Lower the deflector
to rest on the grass bag.
