Channels Engineering Assumptions

When configuring channels on the HMS 400, use the following engineering guidelines.
Voice Mail Ports
The voice mail ports can be utilized to retrieve message, leave message, set AWU calls,
handle Auto Attendant and TUI calls, and control MWI Lamp for admin users.
Each channel can be shared by 60 users
Different user/feature mixes do impact channel utilization
Minibar Ports
Minibar and Room (Maid) Status posting features can share the same ports
Each channel can be shared by 3 users
Each user can handle on average of 50 rooms
Each Minibar posting takes an average of 45 seconds
Each Room Status posting takes an average of 8 seconds
AWU Feature
Each wakeup call takes an average of 12 seconds to complete
Each channel can make an average of 5 calls per minute

Line Configuration

The Dialogic Digital Set Emulation board is used to interface with Nortel switches. Each card has 8
voice channels. The Line Configuration Module is used to determine the function of each channel
based on the modules purchased.
