de-energize, removing the run signal to the LCSSS.
Si mul ta neous ly, the Microboard reads the opening of
the LCSSS STOP contacts via the I/O Board J2- 1. This
signals the Microboard that the LCSSS has ini ti at ed a
shutdown. The Logic/Trigger Board sends the cause of
the shut down in response to the next data re quest. This is
logged on the HISTORY Screen as the "LAST FAULT
WHILE RUN NING". A snapshot of the LCSSS op er -
at ing pa ram e ters valid at the instant of the fault are also
sent. Any ad di tion al faults that oc cur with in the 2 second
trans mis sion time are also sent and logged on the HIS-
TO RY Screen under "LAST TEN FAULTS". Refer to
Op er a tion Manual 160.54-O1 for de scrip tion of all Cy-
cling and Safety shut down mes sag es. While this data is
be ing sent, "LCSSS - SHUT DOWN - RE QUEST ING
FAULT DATA" is dis played on the Sys tem De tails line
of the OptiView Control Center display. If fault data
is not re turned with in 2 sec onds, the Microboard will
con tin ue to send a re quest at 2 second intervals until
the fault data is re turned. If none is returned with in 10
con sec u tive re quests, it as sumes it is not forth com ing
and it displays "LCSSS - STOP CONTACTS OPEN"
on the Sys tem Details line of the display.
The chiller can be started if there are no Safety and Cy cling
conditions. If the temperature of any of the SCR modules
are >110°F, the LCSSS cooling pump will run and the
chiller will be inhibited from starting until the tem per a ture
has decreased below 109°F. While this start in hib it is in
effect, "LCSSS - HIGH TEM PER A TURE PHASE
X - STOPPED" (where X is phase A, B, or C) is dis-
played on the System Details line of the dis play. When
the chiller is started, the OptiView Control Cen ter sends
two start signals simultaneously to the Logic/Trig ger
Board. One is transmitted via the serial com mu ni ca tions
link. The other is the closure of 1R (K18) Start re lay,
ap ply ing 115VAC to Logic/Trigger Board TB1-24. If
these two signals are not received within 5 seconds of
one an oth er, the Logic/Trigger Board ini tiates a cy cling
shut down and "LCSSS - RUN SIG NAL" is dis played
on the System Details line of the display.
The Logic/Trigger Board transmits the following pa-
ram e ters over the serial communications link for dis play
on the MOTOR Screen:
• Three phase motor current
• Three phase line-to-line motor supply voltage
• Input Power (KW)
• Three phase SCR module temperature
• Starter model designation

The following are the programmable setpoints as so -
ci at ed with the LCSSS. They are programmed on the
MOTOR Screen. Refer to programming instructions in
the "System Calibration, Service Setpoints and Re set
Procedures" section of this book.
• Full Load Amps - This is the maximum allowed
mo tor current at which this chiller is permitted to
op er ate to achieve maximum design capacity. It is
the Full Load Amps (FLA) of the chiller, as listed
on the SALES ORDER Screen. Each starter mod el
has a permissible range over which this setpoint can
be programmed as follows:
LCSSS Model
7L-46, 58 and 50
14L-17, 28, 46, 58 and 50
26L-17, 28, 46, 58 and 50
33L-17, 28, 46 and 50
• Start Current - The Logic/Trigger Board will lim it
in rush motor current to this value during starting.
The programmed value is sent to the Logic/Trigger
Board over the serial communications link. This
setpoint should be programmed to (0.45 x mo-
tor Delta Locked Rotor Amps) as listed on the
SALES ORDER Screen. Each model starter has a
per mis si ble range over which this setpoint can be
pro grammed as follows:
LCSSS Model
7L-46, 58 and 50
14L- 17, 28, 46, 58 and 50
26L- 17, 28, 46, 58 and 50
33L-17, 28, 46 and 50
• Supply Line Voltage Range - This setpoint is the
line voltage application and establishes the high and
low line voltage shutdown thresholds. Shut down
and re start thresholds are contained in Operation
man u al 160.54-O1 under the messages "LCSSS
- LOW SUP PLY LINE VOLTAGE" and "LCSSS
- HIGH SUPPLY LINE VOLTAGE".
• Open SCR Enable/Disable - This enables or
dis ables the Open SCR detection Safety protec-
tion per formed by the Logic/Trigger Board. This
pro tec tion must nev er be disabled unless advised
by the YORK factory.
