Power Sup ply
The Power Supply provides the DC power for the LCD
Display and all the printed circuit boards in the OptiView
Control Center. It receives a 102 to 132VAC input from
an ex ter nal power source and provides the following
DC out puts:
-12VDC
+12VDC
+5VDC
+24VDC
Ground
The +24VDC output provides power to the CM-2 Board
(Electro-Mechanical starter applications), Solid State
Starter Logic Board (Mod "A" Solid State Starter), Sol id
State Starter Logic/Trigger Board (Mod "B" Solid State
Starter) or Adap tive Ca pac i ty Con trol (ACC) (Vari able
Speed Drive ap pli ca tions). If the Chill er is equipped
with Prox im i ty Probe Part num ber 025-30961-000
or 025-35900-000, the Probe is also powered by this
+24VDC.
The -12VDC, +12VDC, Gnd and +5VDC outputs are
ap plied to the Microboard. There, these voltages are
ap plied to the circuits requiring the respective voltage.
From the Microboard, the +12VDC and +5VDC are
dis trib ut ed to other system components requiring these
voltages. These include the MicroGateway, Proximity
Probe (025-xxxxx-000 only), I/O Board, VSD Oil Pump,
LCD Dis play and Display Backlight Inverter Board.
As shown in Fig. 7, the Microboard contains two volt-
age regulators that create separate +5VDC and +3.3VDC
sup plies. The +5VDC supply is dedicated to all the
Microboard Analog circuits and is labeled as the +5VDC
(An a log) supply. It is also routed to all Pres sure Transduc-
ers, Tem per a ture Thermistors, Prox im i ty Probe and Mo-
tor con trol ler Board (CM-2, Mod "A" Solid State Starter
Log ic Board or VSD ACC Board). This permits all An a log
cir cuits to be powered by the same supply, elim i nat ing any
offsets caused by voltage reg u la tor drift. The +3.3VDC

supply is utilized by the Mi cro pro ces sor, Flash Memory
Card and other digital cir cuits. It could also be applied to
the Back light In vert er Board, de pend ing on the Display
man u fac tur er's re quire ments as ex plained be low.
Different Display manufacturers can require different
supply voltages for their display and supporting cir cuits.
To accommodate the different Display manufacturer's
voltage requirements, Microboard Program Jumpers
JP2 and JP5 must be positioned to provide the required
sup ply voltages to the Display and the Display Back-
light Inverter Board. Either +5VDC or +3.3VDC, as
de ter mined by JP2, is applied to the Display. Either
+12VDC or +5VDC, as de ter mined by JP5, is applied
to the Dis play Backlight Inverter Board. Refer to Table
1 "Microboard Program Jumpers".
The chiller could be equipped with either of two Prox im i ty
Probes. The power supply requirements are dif fer ent for these
Probes. All Probes operate from a +5VDC power source.
In addition, Probe part number 025-xxxxx-000 re quires
a +12VDC source that is sup plied directly from the
Microboard as shown in Fig. 46. Probe 025-30961-000
and Probe 025-35900-000 require a +24VDC source that
is tapped off of the supply to the CM-2 Cur rent Mod ule
(Electro-Mechanical Starter ap pli ca tions), Sol id State
Start er Log ic Board (Solid State Starter ap pli ca tions)
or ACC Board (VSD ap pli ca tions) as shown in the
Prox im i ty Probe Sec tion of this book.
