Diagnostics & Trou ble shoot ing
The problems that could be encountered in the OptiView
Control Cen ter are in the following categories:
• Keypad
• Display
• Serial Input/Output (I/O)
• Digital Input/Output (I/O)
• Analog Inputs
There is a Diagnostic and associated Troubleshooting
pro ce dure for each category. They are described on the
fol low ing pages. Each Diagnostic is accessed from the
Diagnostics Main Screen, which is entered using the
procedure below. If there is an OptiView Control Cen ter
problem, determine the category of the problem. Then
perform the applicable Diagnostic. If the Di ag nos tic
reveals a malfunction, perform the Trou ble shoot ing
pro ce dure to locate the defective component.
There are several documents that must be referred to
while performing the Diagnostics and Troubleshoot-
ing pro ce dures. Each procedure references the Section
and fi g ures of this book that describe the operation
of the com po nent being test ed. Also, the applicable
OptiView Con trol Cen ter wiring diagram must be used
as follows:
Chillers through style E (except "P" compressors):
• 160.54-PW1 (Electro-mechanical Start er)
• 160.54-PW2 (Mod "A" Sol id State Starter)
• 160.54-PW2.1 (Mod "B" Solid State Starter)
• 160.54-PW3 (Vari able Speed Drive).
Chillers through style E ("P" compressors):
• 160.54-PW8 – Chillers (Electro-me chan i cal Start-
er),
• 160.54-PW9 (Mod "B" Solid State Starter)
• 160.54-PW10 (Variable Speed Drive)
Style "F" chillers (all compressors):
• 160.73-PW1 (Electro-mechanical Starter)
• 160.73-PW2 (Mod "B" Solid State Starter)
• 160.73-PW3 (Variable speed Drive)

DIAGNOSTICS & TROUBLESHOOTING
There are two versions of the Di ag nos tics screens avail-
able as follows:
1. Shown in fi gures 65 through 72. These screens are
used during the Di ag nos tics and Trou ble shoot ing
pro cess. They allow output states to be changed.
Access the Diagnostics Main Screen as fol lows:
1. The chiller must be stopped.
2. Place Compressor Start/Stop switch in the
Stop-Reset position (O).
3. Ensure the Compressor motor cur rent is 0%
FLA.
4. Log in at SERVICE access level using access
code 1 3 8 0.
5. Move Microboard Program Switch SW1-4 to
the ON position. A Watchdog reset will occur
and the Boot-up process will commence. At
the com ple tion of the Boot-up process, the
Di ag nos tics Main Screen will appear. (Note:
If SWI-4 is moved to the ON position before
step 4 above is performed, the "LOG IN" key
will be displayed and Log ging in at SERVICE
ac cess level must be per formed be fore the Main
Screen is displayed.
2. Not shown. Available when logged in at SER-
VICE ac cess level, whether the chiller is run ning
or not. Accessed from the SETUP screen via the
SETPOINTS screen. There are two screens avail-
able that allow the Analog Inputs volt age levels and
Digital I/O states to be monitored. These screens
are preceded by a general screen that pro vides the
installed software versions.
SOFTWARE VERSION
Controls - FLASH Memory Card on Microboard
BIOS - BIOS Eprom on Microboard
Kernel - Soft ware that is part of FLASH Memory
Card
GUI - Soft ware that is part of FLASH Memory Card
SIO - Software that is part of FLASH Memory Card
GPIC - Eprom in MicroGateway
