186 Driving and parking
If the F or G drive program is selec‐
R
ted: select the ;, =, C or A
drive program.
Shift the transfer case to the on-road posi‐
R
tion HIGH RANGE.
Switch DSR off.
R
Lower the vehicle level again to a level suita‐
R
ble to the road conditions, e.g. to the normal
level.
Apply the brakes to dry them after fording.
R
Clean the following components every time
R
after driving off-road:
licence plate number
-
headlamps and tail lamps
-
tyres, wheels and wheel arches
-
underbody
-
After driving through sand, mud, water or
R
gravel, have the following components
checked and cleaned:
brake discs and brakepads
-
tyres and wheels
-
axle joints
-
ECO start/stop function
Operation of the ECO start/stop function
The engine is automatically switched off if the
following conditions are met:
you brake the vehicle to a standstill in trans‐
R
mission position h or i.
all conditions for an automatic engine stop
R
are met.
vehicles with 48 V on-board electrical
R
system (EQ Boost technology): you
depress the brake pedal when driving at
speeds below 20 km/h.
vehicles with a 48 V on-board electrical
R
system (EQ Boost technology): you engage
transmission position j.
The è symbol appears in the multifunction
display when the vehicle is stationary. If not all
the vehicle conditions are met, the ç symbol
appears in the multifunction display.
The engine is restarted automatically if:
you engage transmission position h or k.
R
you depress the accelerator pedal.
R
vehicles with 48 V on-board electrical
R
system (EQ Boost technology): you release
the brake pedal in transmission position h
when the HOLD function is not active and the
vehicle is not in drive program A or ;
and the vehicle does not start to move.
vehicles with 48 V on-board electrical
R
system (EQ Boost technology): you release
the brake pedal, the vehicle is not in Glide
mode and it starts to move at a speed above
approx. 3 km/h.
vehicles without a 48 V on-board electri‐
R
cal system (without EQ Boost technol‐
ogy): you shift from transmission position
j.
an automatic engine start is necessary.
R
If the engine was switched off by the ECO start/
stop function and you leave the vehicle, a warn‐
ing tone sounds. In addition, the message
cle is operational Switch off the ignition before
exiting
appears in the multifunction display. If
you do not switch off the ignition, the ignition is
automatically switched off after three minutes.
