5. Disconnect the two fuel lines (1) and the fuel pump
connector (2).
6. Using special tool CH-20032, remove the fuel pump mounting cover.
7. Pry the fuel pump up and out of the fuel tank.

Do not smoke, carry lighted tobacco or have an open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-
related component. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and may be ignited. Failure to follow these
instructions may result in serious personal injury.
Do not carry personal electronic devices such as cell phones, pagers or audio equipment of any type when

When handling fuel, always observe fuel handling precautions and be prepared in the event of fuel spillage.
Spilled fuel may be ignited by hot vehicle components or other ignition sources. Failure to follow these instruc-
tions may result in serious personal injury.
NOTE :
When removing the fuel pump, use caution not to spill fuel inside of the vehicle.
8. Tip the fuel pump on its side and drain the fuel from the fuel pump and remove the fuel pump from the vehicle.
9. Cover the opening in the fuel tank while the fuel pump is removed.
CAUTION: To avoid foreign material from being dropped into the tank, cover the tank opening while the
fuel pump is removed.
10. Remove and discard the fuel pump seal from the fuel tank.
11. Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
Installation Notes:
• Use caution when unpacking the new fuel pump and do not unwrap the pump until it is ready to be installed.
• When installing the fuel pump, install a new filter screen to the fuel pump inlet. The filter screen size should not
exceed 60 microns.
• Never operate the fuel pump without the filter screen installed. Foreign material that enters the fuel pump inlet
of the fuel pump or the filter screen may lead to damage of the fuel pump.
• Handle the fuel pump carefully and be sure to protect the filter screen from damage.
• Install a new seal to the fuel pump sealing surface.
• Turn the ignition switch to ON (without starting the engine) to apply fuel pressure to the fuel system, then
check the fuel line connections for fuel leaks.
• Start the engine and let it idle and check for fuel leaks at the fuel system connections.
