Precautions to Follow when Using the Cartridge

The tape drive of LT160 is dedicated for the LTO Ultrium 1 tape cartridge. Tape
cartridges such as DLT, 8 mm, DAT, and LT300 cannot be used. The tape cartridge
for LT120 can be used.
The tape cartridge for recording data and the cleaning cartridge are consumable
supplies. Although one volume of each cartridge is supplied with the device, be sure
to purchase them separately. For details of the specifications, see Section
"Ultrium Cartridge Information."
The cleaning cartridge can be used a maximum of 50 times. If the maximum number
is reached, replace the cleaning cartridge.
The cleaning cartridge for an LT120 cannot be used.
To use a tape cartridge that was used in another library device in this library, check
the following points. If any relevant point is found, perform recovery work or
replacement with a new one before using LT160.

Use a genuine Fujitsu CoWorCo label for the bar code label to be affixed to the
cartridge. For details of the specifications, see Section
Specifications and Handling."
-- Reader pin
Check for any reader pin that has been detached from the cartridge. For details,
see Section 7.3.4, "Notes on the reader pin."
-- Replacement period of the tape cartridge
The tape cartridge is consumed due to mechanical abrasion and chemical
deterioration of magnetic material. If storage under the environment conditions
recommended by Fujitsu is assumed, the service life of the tape cartridge is
about 30 years. However, if circumstances such as the environment for use,
number of times of use, and storage environment are considered for actual
operation, we recommend replacing the tape cartridge with a new one, following
as guideline the replacement period described in Section
Period."
