Initial start-up

Before initial start-up, activate the battery by pulling
out the insulation strip on the right-hand side of the
device.
WARNING
Check the medical device prior to use. Do not
use the medical device if it is damaged.

Preparation

CAUTION
Risk of patient injury
Always check that the delivered gas type is appro-
priate for the application.

CAUTION
If the display (A) does not show any characters or
symbols or if the display shows "low batt", the
G
battery must be replaced. See "Replacing the
battery", page 27.
Turn thumb wheel (B) clockwise to close the
metering valve.
If required, connect the supply hose to the NIST
connection of the wall rail.
Attach the rail clamp to the wall rail and secure by
pressing it down.
Insert the probe of the supply hose in the
corresponding terminal unit, or plug in DigiFlow
directly (variant CS).
Prepare accessories (e.g., adapter or
humidification system) according to the relevant
instructions for use, and connect to connection
thread (E).
Connect additional accessories.
Before using the device for the next patient,
activate "Reset". See "Additional functions and
displayed information", page 23.

Function check

Prepare device as described in section
"Preparation", page 21, and connect to the terminal
unit (O
or AIR). Turn thumb wheel clockwise to

close the metering valve completely.
The display shows the following information:
Numerical value 0.0 L/min
Flow indicator (G) does not rotate
Turn thumb wheel counterclockwise as far as it will
go to open the metering valve completely.
The display shows the following information:
overflow
l/min
NOTE
DigiFlow Standard 0 to 16 L/min:
All of the 12 segments of the bar display (H) must
be visible. The indicated value must be greater
than 16 L/min. "overflow" (J) is displayed.
DigiFlow Neonatology 0 to 3 L/min:
All of the 12 segments of the bar display (H) must
be visible. The indicated value must be greater
than 3 L/min.
Holding down the function key (C) (>5 seconds)
activates the display test.
An acoustic signal confirms the beginning of the test.
After a short delay, the following screens are
displayed successively:
All displayable segments and characters are
shown.
