Activating Passenger Airbag

1. Pull the switch outward.
2. Turn it from OFF to ON

position.
The driver display shows a message
that the passenger airbag is activated.
Confirm the message by pressing the
central
/confirm button on the right-
hand steering wheel keypad, see page
63 for further information.
WARNING: Never sit a child on
a booster cushion Never use a
rearward facing child seat on the
passenger seat if the airbag is
activated.

WARNING: The passenger airbag
must always be activated when a
front facing passenger (child or
adult) is sitting in the front
passenger seat.

The upper console also shows a
N
message and symbol informing that the
passenger airbag is activated.
NOTE: If the passenger airbag
has been activated with the
vehicle in ignition position I or
lower, the messages will appear
approximately 6 seconds after the
ignition is put into position II.
Side Airbags
A side airbag is fitted into the outboard
side of both seat backrests, identified
by the word 'AIRBAG'.
If the vehicle is involved in a moderate
to severe side collision, the side airbags
N
deploy between the occupant and the
door panel.
NOTE: The side airbags may not
deploy in all side impact situations.
The airbags deflate rapidly during the
collision to minimise any obstruction to
the occupants and reduce any danger
of suffocation. During deflation it is
normal for smoke to escape from the
airbag. The seat belt pre-tensioners will
also activate at the same time.
