Tyres
The wheel and tyre sizes on the vehicle
are different front and rear, interchang-
ing of wheels and tyres between axles
is not permissible.
WARNING: Failure to adhere to
this requirement will adversely
affect the handling of the car and
may result in an accident.

Tyre Inspection

The tyres should be regularly inspect-
ed for signs of cuts, abrasions, bulges,
other damage and for any uneven tread
wear patterns. Uneven tread wear may
indicate that the suspension geometry
or dampers require attention from your
Lotus Retailer.
When assessing tyre condition and
serviceability, replace tyres if any
doubt exists, or if the legal tread depth
limits are approached.
WARNING: Damaged, poorly main-
tained or improperly used tyres
are dangerous and may cause an
accident.

Wear Indicators

Wear indicators are moulded into
the bottom of the tread grooves at
intervals around the tyre, indicated
by small pointers on the outer tread
blocks. The tyres should be replaced
before wearing down to this minimum
legal tread depth.
Worn tyres with a low tread depth
are more likely to hydroplane in wet
conditions and should not be used.

Recommended Tyre Pressures

The cold tyre pressures should be
checked every week, or every 1,000
miles, whichever is the sooner and
adjustments made as necessary.
VEHICLE CARE
A decal on the driver's side door pillar
displays the recommended pressures
for factory fitted tyres. The 'Technical
Data' section at the back of this
handbook also lists the recommended
tyre pressures.

Cold Tyres

Check/adjust tyre pressures only when
the tyres are cold (i.e. the vehicle has
been stationary for a minimum of 3
hours or has been driven less than 1
mile/kilometre), as the pressures may
increase when the tyres are warmed to
normal running temperature.

Tyre Pressures For Track Use

For track use, tyre pressures should
be checked and adjusted only once
the tires are warm which can be
achieved by performing approximately
3 moderate speed laps of the track
circuit.
After rest intervals the pressures
should be checked and adjusted to
the correct inflation pressures, then
warmed up again as described above
prior to resetting them for track use.
Once track use is completed, the
tyres should be given sufficient time
