Intermec EasyCoder 601 XP – Installation & Operation Ed. 3
The ribbon low sensor can be used to detect when the ribbon supply
starts getting low (as opposed to the standard ribbon end detector).
It is available a factory-installed option or a kit for installation by
an authorized service technician.
The ribbon low sensor requires a dedicated Intermec Fingerprint
program to work.
The EasySet bar code wand is primarily intended to facilitate setup
in regard of paper and transfer ribbon types, but can also be used to
change all other setup parameters. This is done by scanning a pre-
printed CODE 128 bar code composed according to a special stand-
ard (FNC3 in the bar code input data specifies a setup parameter).
The bar code wand can also be used to read other CODE 128 bar
codes as input data to a Intermec Fingerprint program.
For further information on how to compose setup bar codes, see the
Intermec Fingerprint 7.12 Reference Manual. A sheet with a collec-
tion of printed bar codes for various setup parameters is delivered
with the printer.
The bar code wand is connected to the topmost connector on the
printer's rear plate, immediately to the right of the main switch.
A number of different interface boards are or will become available
for use with the EasyCoder 601 XP. The interface boards are either
factory fitted or can easily be fitted by an autorized service techni-
cian. Each board is delivered with installation instructions and com-
plete descriptions of signals and connectors.
The EasyCoder 601 XP can accommodate one such interface board
in addition to its standard serial and parallel communication ports.
