6 Preparing the product for use

INFORMATION
The procedures described in this section may only be carried out by qualified personnel.
These instructions for use must be given to the user along with the product.
INFORMATION
The seat cushion must be set up by qualified personnel before delivery.
Before handing over to the user or attendant, perform sufficient seat tests under medical
supervision. Have the seat cushion tested by the user as needed.
6.1 Setting Up
1) Open the cover.
2) Decide whether is suitable for the patient to use the foam wedges to adjust the position of the
thighs:
→ Foam wedges are used: Position the foam wedges in the pockets (see fig. 6). The foam
wedges should be positioned on the outside edges of the cushion and/or between the
thigh guides of the foam base (see fig. 8).
→ Foam wedges are not used: Lay the empty pockets flat to the side so the user does not
sit on the empty pockets (see fig. 9). Alternatively, cut off the pockets without damaging
the cover.
3) Close the cover again.
4) Place the seat cushion on the wheelchair, making sure it is centred and with the contoured
side up. The valve must be located at the front left (see fig. 10).
5) Turn the valve anti-clockwise to open it (see fig. 11).
6) Attach the flexible tube of the pump to the valve (see fig. 12).
7) Inflate the seat cushion until it begins to arch upwards slightly (see fig. 13).
8) Close the air valve by twisting it clockwise and disconnect the pump from the valve (see
fig. 14).
9) Lower the user down carefully onto the wheelchair seat cushion. The seat cushion must be
centred below the user.
INFORMATION: Ensure the individual is sitting in the desired sitting position.
