By placing a sample on the measurement aperture and pressing either the button Operate on the
display unit of the instrument or triggering the measurement directly on the touchscreen, the
instrument measures the surface of the sample and processes, displays and stores the measured
values in the system memory. The instrument can be connected via USB to a computer in order to
read or write data. A capacitive touchscreen allows additional functions.

Measurement Principle

The instrument is available only with a 45°c:0° geometry: It uses 45° circumferential illumination
and 0° viewing perpendicular to the sample plane. The circumferential illumination is essential to
achieve repeatable measurement results on directional and structured surfaces.
The 45 / 0 geometry measures color as you see it. If we perceive a visual difference between
sample and standard based on variations in gloss or texture, the 45:0 geometry will also measure
a correlated difference.
