Sending a Fax
To send a fax:
1. Load your document.
•
Document Glass: Place the first page of the document you are faxing facedown on the
document glass with the top of the page toward the left side of the printer.
Document Feeder: Remove any staples and paper clips from pages and insert them face up in
•
the document feeder with the top of the page entering the document feeder first.
•
On the control panel, press the Services Home button.
2. Select the Fax icon.
3. Do one of the following:
•
Enter a fax number (phone number) using the key pad, or select Dialing Characters to use the
touch screen, and select Add.
•
Enter a speed dial number and select the Speed Dial checkbox, and select Add.
Select Address Book icon on the right. Select Individual or Group from the drop-down menu.
•
Use the up and down arrows to select a contact.
Note:
Contacts must be entered into the Address Book before you can use it to send a fax. See the
System Administrator Guide for more information.
Note:
Chain Dialing can be done when viewing the list of Individual contacts in the Address Book.

4. Adjust fax options. For more information, see
5. Press the Start button. The printer scans the pages and transmits the document when all pages
have been scanned.
6. To print a confirmation page displaying the fax transmission status, turn on the confirmation
report option. For more information see
Changing the Default Fax Settings
To change the default fax settings:
1. Log in as a system administrator. Press the Log In/Out button (user name: admin, default
password: 1111).
2. Select Tools.
3. Select Service Settings on the left side of the touch screen.
4. Select Embedded Fax Settings from the Features list.
5. Select Feature Defaults from the list.
6. Choose new default settings from the tabs and select Save Defaults.
