In the time rctl mode, the GPI1 to GPI6 inputs on the Parallel remote control port are used to control
the remote control user bits while GPI 7 and GPI 8 retain their normal functions (ON AIR TALLY
INPUT and GEN SET as shown in Table 3-5). When the GEN MODE is set to any of the other modes,
then the GPI1 to GPI6 inputs revert to their normal functions as described in section 3.8.2. The parallel
port pin designations in remote control mode are shown in Table 3-5 below. Table 3-5 also shows the
corresponding output pins of the 7721DD4-HD+GPI decoder terminal block and the user bits that
control them. If the video is downconverted using a 7710DCDA or similar downconverter that passes
the timecode through to the downconverted output, the encoded GPI signals can be decoded by the
7721GPI-D SDI decoder, as shown in Table 3-5.

3.8.2. Assigning the Functions of the General Purpose Inputs

When the GEN MODE is NOT set to time rctl there are eight dedicated remote control inputs as shown
in Table 3-6 for Revision 2 units. Note that not all of the GPI inputs are available in Revision 1 units as
shown in Table 3-7.
