NOTE: These procedures should be followed when the system is installed and during periodic testing as required
by code. Check local codes to determine how frequent your system should be tested. Always inform
appropriate personnel that you will be testing the system (city fire department, etc.).

LAMP TEST

The "LAMP TEST" push button on the interface panel is used to determine local lamp failures within the system.
Lamps on the 4100 operator interface panel illuminate along with the five function and acknowledge LEDs and the
local annunciator LEDs (if installed). All segments on the LCD also change to squares. Perform the following
procedures to determine lamp failures.
1. Press the "LAMP TEST" push button. All LEDs should illuminate (lamps should stay illuminated as long as
the push button is depressed). Holding the push button in for more than 3 seconds will test the tone-alert.
2. Perform an individual lamp test on all remote annunciators to include the 24 Point I/O, RCUs, SCUs and
LED/switch modules.
3. Remove and replace defective lamps/LEDs, or call your local Simplex Branch Office for assistance.

Walk Test

Walk Test
is a software-based function and is programmed to meet customer requirements. The system will pulse
the signals for alarm conditions, then reset. The signals will sound steady for 4 seconds to indicate trouble
conditions, then reset. A silent Walk Test
selected. For Audio systems, the selected speakers will output a spoken message to indicate the zone being tested.
The auto reset/auto acknowledge operation allows for a one-man test without the need for someone at the main
control panel to acknowledge and reset the system. The Walk Test
are inherent to the normal reset procedure, thereby allowing for a faster test. The automatic reset (5 second power
drop) only occurs on the zone that comes in after a configurable time delay (default = 15 seconds). This delay can
be optimally set (with a Programming Unit) for the time it should take for a zone to clear (i.e., magnet vs. smoke
tester).
If an alarm condition is detected from a zone that is not in the present active Walk Test

occur while a device is being tested.
