4100+ OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS FOR FIREFIGHTER'S AUDIO SYSTEM
HOW TO OPERATE MIKE
HOW TO OPERATE MICROPHONE
1. To make an announcement with mike:
TO ALL AREAS: Flip up ALL SPEAKERS TALK switch.
TO SPECIFIC AREAS: Flip up all desired Speaker Select
Switches.
TO AREA IN ALARM: Go to step 2.
2. Remove mike from enclosure and press Mike Talk Switch.
• Turns off any active tone or message.
3. Wait for Talk LED to go on.
4. Make appropriate announcement.
• Releasing Mike Talk Switch restarts tone or message if
alarm exists.
5. When finished, flip down ALL SPEAKERS TALK switch
and all activated Speaker Select Switches. Then replace
the mike.
HOW TO INITIATE AN EVACUATION SIGNAL
1. TO EVACUATE ALL AREAS: Flip up ALL SPEAKERS
EVAC switch.
TO EVACUATE SPECIFIC AREAS: Flip up all desired
Speaker Select Switches; then flip up SELECTIVE EVAC
switch.
2. To make an announcement over mike, see HOW TO
OPERATE MICROPHONE instructions shown above.
3. When finished, flip down ALL SPEAKERS EVAC switch.
HOW TO SILENCE FIRE ALARM SIGNALS
CAUTION
Pressing ALARM SILENCE key silences evacuation tone/
message and lights the ALARM SILENCED LED.
1. To silence alarm evacuation signals, press Main Panel's
ALARM SILENCE key.
HOW TO USE LOCAL SPEAKER SWITCH
(Plays active tone/message on panel speaker)
1. Flip up LOCAL SPEAKER switch.
2. When finished, flip down LOCAL SPEAKER switch.

IF YOUR SYSTEM SWITCH CONFIGURATION DOES NOT
MATCH THIS SHEET, CONSULT SIMPLEX FOR SPECIFIC
OPERATIONS. SIMPLEX IS LISTED IN THE YELLOW

HOW TO OPERATE PHONE
PHONE OPERATION
1. When remote phone is plugged in or remote handset is
lifted:
• Ring signal is heard on handset.
• Phone LED flashes at panel.
• Tone sounds at panel.
2. Pick up master phone.
3. To connect phone, flip up Phone Select Switch next to
flashing LED.
• Handset ring signal goes off.
• Flashing LED turns on steady.
• Panel tone is turned off.
4. Use master phone as required.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 if another remote handset is lifted
or phone is plugged in.
To silence the tone without connecting the remote phone,
flip up PHONE PIEZO SILENCE switch.
6. When finished, hang up master phone and flip down
Phone Select Switches.
• Remote phone must be unplugged or remote handset
replaced. (If remote phone is off hook more than 10 sec-
ond, panel tone re-sounds and LED flashes.)
HOW TO RESET THE SYSTEM
1. When the alarm condition has been cleared, restore or
replace all affected devices in accordance with the
instructions provided with each device (smoke detector,
motion sensor, etc.).
2. Reset the system.
• FIRE ALARM Condition: Press the <SYSTEM RESET>
key.
• PRIORITY 2 ALARM Condition: Open the Operator
Interface Panel access door and press the <PRIORITY
2 ALARM RESET> key on the programmable CON-
TROL Key Panel. (The CONTROL Key Panel is located
on the far left of the Operator Interface Panel.)
After a short delay, the system will return to normal and dis-
play the following message.
SYSTEM IS NORMAL
