The Precision Platform 4022-40 Scanner, shown in Figure 7-1, is similar to
the 4022-31 Scanner model. The similarities include:
• Scanner Structural Frame Assembly.
• Power Distribution and Electronics Assembly.
• Termination PCB.
• Remote MSS/PMP enclosure with AC motor controller.
However, there are some key differences that make the 4022-40 Scanner
unique for use specifically in Wire Calender applications. The differences
include:
• A pair of PrecisionPak4 heads designed specifically for housing the
required basis weight and dual x-ray sensors for Wire Calender
Applications with a standard 19mm (0.75") head gap.
• Standardization Shelf and Sample Paddle for use in sensor
standardization and calibration.
• Radiation lights for providing indication of the status of the sensors
unique to wire calendar applications.
• The nature of the wire calendar process material requires a special
series of safety measures and Interlocks be present on the 4022-40
scanner that provides radiation safety protection.
• Breakaway upper and lower head design in order to minimize
damage to the scanner in case of lump collision.
