DRIVING AID TECHNOLOGIES

These systems actively manage brak-
ing and traction.
Under certain conditions, the driver
may feel the actions taken by the sys-
tems in the form of vibrations or slight
jerks in the steering wheel or brake
pedal, which is normal.
ABS (Anti-Lock Brake
System)
This system prevents the wheels from
locking during braking, which improves
the stability of the vehicle and the con-
tact of the tires on the ground.
Limitations: Low tire adhesion to the
surface limits the braking ability. Even
with ABS, the braking distance will be
longer under the conditions of low ad-
hesion.

FTC (Front Torque Control)

When front wheel slippage is de-
tected, FTC automatically transfers
torque to the wheel providing better
traction.

DTC (Drag Torque Control)

Drag Torque Control (DTC) detects
excessive engine braking on slippery
surfaces and modulates engine brak-
ing accordingly to prevent wheels from
locking up.

HHC (Hill Hold Control)

When the brake pedal is applied as to
hold the vehicle stationary, HHC au-
tomatically detects if the vehicle is on
a slope and momentarily holds brake
pressure to ensure the vehicle does
not roll down while moving the foot
from the brake pedal to the accelerator
pedal.

HDC (Hill Descent Control)

HDC controls the vehicle speed in
down hill situation by applying and
modulating the brake pressure to hold
the target speed set by the driver.
______________
72
The driver can change the set speed
by pressing the accelerator or brake
pedal.
HDC can be activated and deactivated
by pressing the HDC button.
SECONDARY CONTROLS
Refer to
complete instructions.
TCS (Traction Control
System)
TCS detects excessive wheel slippage
and adjusts engine torque according to
driving conditions and driver intent to
optimize traction. This system is de-
signed to allow performance-oriented
driving. Driver can decide to deactivate
the TCS by going into Settings - refer to
SETTINGS for complete instructions.
This traction control system is NOT an
ESC (Electronic Stability Control) sys-
tem and is NOT a Roll Over Mitigation
system and therefore will NOT auto-
matically correct a situation of loss of
control or roll-over.
NOTE: Driving aid technologies help
maintain stability during maneuvers,
but you can still lose control, tip or roll
the vehicle due to extreme maneuvers
(such as hard turns at high speeds) or
striking uneven surfaces or objects.
