REMOTE CONTROL RECEPTION

When the fax machine is connected to a telephone installation with several socket in series, you can start
fax reception using a telephone connected to a socket at a distance from the fax machine. This type of
remote control of the fax is called remote start.
In order to start reception from the telephone, a telephone with tone dialling must be used and the
parameter REMOTE START: ON, in the sub-menu: TEL LINE SETUP (INSTALLATION menu, see section:
INSTALLATION PARAMETERS), must be selected, and the relative code must be set.
When these settings have been made, you can activate remote reception by pressing the * button on the
telephone followed by the programmed code. This manoeuvre is comparable to pressing the START key
on the fax machine.
If the fax machine is connected to a telephone installation with several socket in parallel, to connect to the
line, you must press buttons * and # on the telephone before pressing * and the programmed code.
Warning:
To perform this function with telephones that use both pulse and tone dialling, connected to a system that
uses pulse dialling, press the * key twice followed by the programmed code.
Example:
1. Your fax machine is connected to a single fax-telephone line but you have more than one telephone
socket and the telephone is located at a distance from the fax.
2. You receive a telephone call that specifies that a document is about to be transmitted. During the phone
call the fax set-up for automatic mode reception is interrupted.
3. With the telephone close to the fax machine, to activate reception of the document, keep the handset
off the hook and press START on the fax. With the telephone distant from the fax, you can use the
remote start facility to activate document reception by pressing the * button on the telephone followed
by the programmed code.
4. Once you have replaced the handset, the fax will receive the document. When the operation is
terminated, the machine returns to the original operating mode (Automatic reception).
