KEYBOARD CHECKS

KEYBOA R D ECHO TEST - - TEST 1 A
The keyboard echo test may be cal led for either on the s oftkey assemb ly
and keypad or on the keyboard .
echo test on the softkey assembly and keypad and to per form the tes t :
1 .
Reset the IBM 9 0 0 1 by switching the computer to OFF and back to O N .
2 .
Press the STOP softkey while the automat ic diagnost ic testing
running .
The computer responds "PRESS STOP KEY THEN EXECUTE KEY TO
START MANUAL DIAGNOSTICS" .
3 .
Press the STOP softkey and the EXEC softkey .
4 .
Press keypads 1 and A .
5 .
Press softkeys TEST NUM and EXEC .
6 .
Press each key on the keyboard and observe that the appropriate code
appears on the CRT. See Figure 3 - 3 .
7 .
End the test by either resetting the IBM 9 0 0 1 or by press ing the STOP
softkey. You may return to the operating system label by pres s in g
the F and E keypads and press ing the TEST NUM and the EXEC s oftkeys .
To call for the keyboard echo test on the keyboard and to perform the
tes t :
Reset the IBM 900 1 by switching the computer to OFF and back to O N .

Wait at least unt i l automatic diagnostic test 4 is running and press

the ESC key . The operating system label appears .
3 .
Place the diagnos tic diskett e , DIAG7 7 , into the disk drive .
Type DIAG 7 7 and pres s the return key . The computer responds "PRESS

STOP KEY THEN EXECUTE KEY TO START MANUAL DIA G NOSTICS " .
5 .
Press the ESC key and the FlO key .
6 .
Type lA and press the F l key and the F l O key .
