DISKETTE AND DISK CHECKS
The diskette and disk checks isolate a fault to a diskette or disk drive ,
the p l anar board, or the interconnecting cab l e when a fault occurs that
could be caused by any one o f them .

The 811 diskette drives are connected to the IBM 900 1 at port FD00 - 03 on
the processor unit back p l ate . Test 1 7 , using the wrap cables provided
with the IBM 9 0 0 1 , isolates the p l anar board or cabling as a
source of a diskette fault .

To perform the 8 1 1 diskette and diskette drive tests :

I f there i s a cable connected to the processor para l le l PPU por t ,
disconnect it and connect the wrap cab l e labeled TEST 1 7 to
Paral l e l PPU port on the processor unit back p l at e and to the unused
connector on the diskette drive assembly back p l ate .
