FEATURE BOARDS
The feature boards ( sensor I / O , additional memory , etc . )

REMOVAL
1 .
Position the IBM 9001 power switch to OFF and unplug the main power
cord from the wal l out let . See Figure 5 - 1 .
2 .
Remove
the main power cord and a l l other connectors from the
processor unit back p l ate . See Figure 5 - 1 .
3 .
Remove the proces sor unit back plate by loos ening the four retaining
screws in the plate ( a l l processor units )
screws on the serial and para l l e l ports (earl ier processor units ) .

4 .
Remove the feature board by grasping the ej ector levers at the s ides
of the feature board and pul l ing toward the rear of the proces sor
unit . See Figure
5 . 3 . 2
REPLACEMENT
Note :
There can be no empty s lots between a sensor I / O board and the
planar board or MMU board if so equipped .
1 .
S l ide the feature board into a s lot above the planar board unt i l the
feature board ' s ej ector levers hook onto the s ides of the processor
unit frame.
See Figure
2 .
Grasp the ej ector levers and push them toward the front of
processor unit until the feature board is firmly seated in the ex­
pansion board .
3 .
Place the back plate on the processor unit .
