If a lot of coolant has been lost, only add
cold coolant after the engine has cooled
down. This will prevent engine damage.

The excess coolant will be forced out
through the pressure relief valve in the
cap when engine becomes hot.

Radiator f f an
The radiator fan is driven electrically and
controlled by a thermoswitch from the
coolant temperature (also from the
engine compartment temperature on
some models).
Warning
After t t he e e ngine h h as b b een s s topped
the f f an c c an c c ontinue r r unning f f or a a
while – – e e ven w w ith t t he e e ngine
switched o o ff ( ( up t t o a a bout 1 1 0 m m in-
utes). I I t c c an a a lso s s tart t t o r r un a a gain
suddenly a a fter a a s s hort t t ime i i f
– t t he c c oolant t t emperature i i ncrea-
ses d d ue t t o h h eat b b uild u u p
