HANDLING INSTRUCTIONS
Ignition l l ock
Electronic e e ngine b b lock
When switching ignition on vehicle and
key automatically compare data. This is
displayed by a pilot light in the dash-
board. See "Warning lamps" chapter.
If the wrong (i.e. false) key is used, the car
will not start and the immobiliser pilot
light will come on.
Petrol e e ngines

To avoid unnecessary strain on the bat-
tery, do not use any other major electrical
equipment while the glow plugs are pre-
heating.

For a a ll v v ehicles:
Position 1 1 :
To lock the steering wheel withdraw the
key and turn the wheel until you hear the
pin engage.
In vehicles with automatic gearbox the
key can only be turned to position 1 and
withdrawn when the selector lever is in
the "P" position.

Position 2 2 :
If the key is difficult to turn in the lock,
move the steering wheel until the key
turns freely.
Position 3 3 :
Before the starter can be operated a sec-
ond time the key must be turned back to
position 1. This prevents the starter motor
from engaging while the engine is run-
ning, as this could damage the starter.
Ignition k k ey l l ock*
On vehicles with an automatic gearbox*
after switching off the ignition the igni-
tion key can only be withdrawn if the
selector lever is in the "P" position.
When the ignition key has been with-
drawn the selector lever is locked in this
position.
Warning
On v v ehicles w w ith m m anual g g earbox,
never r r emove t t he k k ey f f rom t t he
steering l l ock w w hile t t he v v ehicle i i s
moving. O O therwise t t he s s teering
wheel m m ay l l ock u u nexpectedly.
