Moving o o ff
Select driving range (R, D, 3, 2, 1). Wait
until t t he g g earbox h h as s s hifted a a nd t t he
power f f low i i s m m ade t t o t t he d d riving
wheels (light selection jerk perceptible).
Then o o ne c c an a a ccelerate.
Stopping
When the vehicle is stopped for a short
period, for example at traffic lights, it is
only necessary to apply the brakes. It is
not necessary to move selector lever to
"N". The engine should however only be
running at idling speed.

Parking
Warning

away inadvertently, y y ou s s hould
always a a pply t t he h h andbrake f f irmly
when t t he v v ehicle h h as c c ome t t o t t he
complete s s top. A A lso p p lace t t he g g ear
selector l l ever i i n p p osition " " P".
On a gradient the handbrake should be
applied firmly first and then the parking
lock engaged. This will ensure that the
locking mechanism is not too heavily
loaded and makes the lock easier to dis-
engage.
Tow s s tarting
Vehicles with an automatic gearbox can-
not be started by towing or pushing the
vehicle. See "Tow start/towing" chapter.
When the battery is flat, the engine can
be started from the battery of another
vehicle by using jumper cables. See
"Emergency starting".
Towing
If a vehicle must be towed instructions in
the "Tow start/towing" chapter must be
followed strictly.
