– Eight channel DDR4 memory architecture (per CPU), 2 DIMMs per channel
– 32 memory DIMM sockets R3 (16 per CPU)
– Supports RDIMM w/ ECC, 3DS-RDIMM, LRDIMM and Optane PMem
modules
– Supports DDR4 up to 3200 MT/s
The notation of the CPUs, memory channels and DIMM sockets correspond to
the silk print on the system board.

General memory population rules

– Non-ECC DIMMs are not supported on this platform.
– All DIMMs must be either all DDR4 DIMMs and/or DDR4 DIMMs and
Optane PMem modules.
– Mixing of LRDIMM with RDIMM type is not allowed per platform (i.e. the
same channel, across different channels, and across different sockets).
– Mixing of non-3DS and 3DS RDIMMs is not allowed in platform.
– Mixing of Optane PMem modules with RDIMMs or with LRDIMMs is
supported.
– DIMMs with different frequencies can be mixed in the system, but lowest
frequency determines the system memory speed.
– There should be at least one DDR4 DIMM per CPU socket.
– If only one DIMM is populated in a channel, then populate it in the slot
furthest away from CPU (i.e. the black slot).
– Mixing Optane PMem capacities or generations or DDR4 capacities and
types within a socket or across sockets is not supported for Optane PMem
configurations.
