Chapter 10
10.5 Cutter Blade Cleaning
One of the key elements in a liner-less application is the cutter assembly. It is
recommended that the cutter blades are cleaning with every roll of media to keep your
printer running at optimal performance. The amount of cleaning required will depend on the
media type and adhesive being used. It has been observed that some media types cause
more adhesive than others. It is best to observe how much buildup you are experiencing
with the media being used and adjust the cleaning schedule accordingly.
1. When performing any maintenance, it is good practice to turn the printer off before
servicing the unit.
2. If excessive adhesive is experienced, you may use some tweezers to remove the
adhesive and then clean with a cotton swab dampened with Isopropyl Alcohol or
Adhesive Removing Solvent. Please note that pre-moistened swabs are also
available; part number 720012-0000.
3. It is possible to clean the upper and lower cutter blades using a cleaning swab with
the media exit chute installed but it is recommended that the chute is removed.
4. Looking into the exit of the printer, you will notice that you are able to observe the
upper stationary cutter blade. Using a cotton swab dampened with Isopropyl Alcohol
to remove any adhesive buildup from the upper cutter blade. Small tweezers may
also be used to remove excessive adhesive build up as well.
