rmon event
The rmon event Global Configuration mode command configures an event. To remove an event, use the no form
of this command.
Syntax
rmon event index type [community text] [description text] [owner name]
no rmon event index
Parameters
•
index — Specifies the event index. (Range: 1 - 65535)
•
type — Specifies the type of notification generated by the device about this event. Possible values: none,
log, trap, log-trap.
•
community text — If the specified notification type is trap, an SNMP trap is sent to the SNMP community
specified by this octet string. (Range: 0-127 characters)
•
description text — Specifies a comment describing this event. (Range: 0-127 characters)
•
name — Specifies the name of the person who configured this event. If unspecified, the name is an empty
string.

This command has no default configuration.

If log is specified as the notification type, an entry is made in the log table for each event. If trap is specified, an
SNMP trap is sent to one or more management stations.
Example
The following example configures an event identified as index 10 and for which the device generates a notification
in the log table.
