However​ , when the control knob is pulled ​ f orward​ , TO 'START' the LONG curved starter spring (​ F IG .6
23​ ) is also moved, which in turn touches the floppy ​ d river​ ​ ( FIG 9 127​ ) on the CONTROL DISC . The nose
of the floppy ​ d river​ [ ​ 1 27]​ touches the ​ c am D (fig.8​ ) under the platen teeth on the main shaft, which gives
the CONTROL disc an ​ i mpulse​ . This ​ i mpulse​ is just sufficient to cause the ​ t eeth​ of the main shaft to grip
in the ​ t eeth​ of the control disc , as a result of which it starts to rotate. It may happen that the MOTOR is
switched on when the MOTOR is started, after which the CONTROL DISC ​ w ill remain standing​ . In this
case one has switched ​ t oo quickly​ and the taker jumps back without being hit by the cam on the main
shaft. In this case, ​ o ne will have to go again
