Replace the compute node in the chassis
After you remove the failed node from the cluster, you can remove the node from the chassis, and install the
replacement node.
Ensure that you have antistatic protection before you perform the steps here.
Steps
1. Put on antistatic protection.
2. Unpack the new node, and set it on a level surface near the chassis.
Keep the packaging material for when you return the failed node to NetApp.
3. Label each cable that is inserted at the back of the node that you want to remove.
After you install the new node, you should insert the cables back into the original ports.
4. Disconnect all the cables from the node.
Steps
1. Select the failed node, and select Monitor >
Hardware Status > Sensors.
2. Note the serial number of the failed node.
This helps you identify the node in the chassis
by matching the serial number on the sticker at
the back of the node with the serial number you
noted.
3. Right-click
the
Connection > Disconnect.
4. Select Yes to confirm the action.
5. Right-click the failed node and select Remove

node with the serial number you noted.
4. With the failed node selected, select Manage >
Networking > VMkernel adapters, and copy
the four IP addresses listed.
