Note: It is not possible to operate a
network card and a remote data
transfer connection for the same net-
work address range simultaneously.
For this reason you must temporarily
deactivate the network card when
you want to establish a remote data
transfer connection. In order to do
this, you open the "System" symbol in
the control panel and deactivate the
network card in the "Devices" tab. If
the PC is configured via DHCP, you can
instead also disconnect the PC from
the LAN and reboot it.
Notes on Configuring the
Serial Port (V.24)
A serial port is automatically de-
tected when the PC boots, and the
corresponding system software is in-
stalled. The TCP/IP connection to the
OpenCom 100 is established by
means of additional system soft-
ware: the remote-data-transfer
adapter software and the serial port
driver.
Note: Configure the serial port used
to 57600 Baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit,
no parity and no hardware data flow
control.

Installing the Remote Data
Transfer Network under
Windows 95 or Windows 98
1. Open the Control Panel and dou-
ble-click the "Software" icon.
2. Click on the "Windows Setup"
tab and double-click the item
"Communications" .
3. Tick the check box next to the
component "Dialup Network-
ing" and confirm with "OK."
Installing the RAS under
Windows NT 4.0
1. Open the Control Panel and dou-
ble-click on the "Network" icon.
2. Select the "Services" tab and
click on the "Add" button.
3. Select "Remote Access Service"
from the list and confirm with
"OK" .
4. To conclude the installation of
the RAS, the RAS Properties dia-
logue is displayed. Select the
driver "OpenCom Modem"
driver that was created on the
first start of the program "occo-
nfig," and confirm with "OK."
5. Confirm the configuration with
the "Continue" button and close
the network settings.
