Using the Quick Connect Feature

Select "Serial" from the Interface drop-down list.
This will display a number of interface parameters that must be entered
for proper RS232 functionality.
Enter the slave address and COM port values (from the
COMMUNICATIONS
fields.
Enter the physical communications parameters (baud rate and parity
setpoints) in their respective fields.
Note that when communicating to the relay from the front port, the
default communications setpoints are a baud rate of 9600, with slave
address of 1, no parity, 8 bits, and 1 stop bit. These values cannot be
changed.
Click the Read Order Code button to connect to the 489 device and
upload the order code.
If a communications error occurs, ensure that the 489 serial
communications values entered in the previous step correspond to the
relay setting values.
Click OK when the relay order code has been received.
The new device will be added to the Site List window (or Online
window) located in the top left corner of the main EnerVista 489 Setup
window.
The 489 Site Device has now been configured for serial communications. Proceed to
Connecting to the Relay on page 4–19 to begin communications.
The Quick Connect button can be used to establish a fast connection through the front
panel RS232 port of a 489 relay.
