1.2 Intended use
INFORMATION
The dynamic unit (17BK2=*) must only be used as an accessory to the
Ottobock static corrective system joint (17BK1=*).
INFORMATION
Depending on the application, the static corrective system joint is to be
used singly or in pairs. The dynamic unit is always used singly on the
lateral joint. To ensure the stability of the orthosis, we usually recommend
the use of a medial support, e.g. 17BK3.
1.3 Indication
The dynamic unit (17BK2=*) for the static corrective system joint is suitable
for users with neurological or orthopaedic disorders in conjunction with
contractures of the joints.
Among the range of neurological and orthopaedic indications are: stroke,
cerebral palsy, condition after paraplegia, multiple sclerosis, spina bifida,
craniocerebral injuries, dystrophies, total knee joint endoprosthesis, burns,
amputation, after ligament rupture, fractures.
1.4 Contraindications
Use of the dynamic unit should be avoided in the case of the following
contraindications:
Structural contractures: deformation – muscles, bones; ankylosis, ossifi-
cations, fibrosis.
Poor blood circulation.

2 General safety instructions

CAUTION
Loss of function due to improper use
Use of the dynamic unit in ambulatory orthoses for supporting the knee-
stretching musculature is not permitted. The dynamic unit is designed
only for use in positioning orthoses.
