Installing PCI Cards
1. Power off the system, remove the cover, and attach an antistatic wrist strap as
described in "Preparing for Installation" on page en-28.
2. Stand the system upside down as shown.
3. Use a No. 2 Phillips screwdriver to remove the slot's filler panel from the chassis
back panel.
4. Position the card into the chassis above the empty slot on the PCI riser board.
5. Guide the card bracket tab into the chassis back panel opening.
Caution – Support the riser board with the fingers of one hand, to insure full
insertion of the PCI card into the riser board.
6. At the two upper corners of the card, push the card straight down into the PCI
riser board connector until the card is fully seated.
7. Install the screw that secures the card bracket tab to the chassis back panel.
8. Continue with "Finishing the Installation" on page en-35.
Installing CD-ROM Drive
See Figure
1. Power off the system, remove the cover, and attach an antistatic wrist strap as
described in "Preparing for Installation" on page en-28.
2. Stand the system upside down as shown.
3. Remove the CD filler panel and knockout plate.
4. Remove the RMA bracket and set it on the antistatic mat.
Note – Before you install drive, set its mode-select jumper to MA.
5. Install the CD-ROM in the RMA bracket.
6. Secure the four screws.
7. Connect the data, audio, and DC power cables to the CD-ROM drive. Refer to the
Sun Ultra 5/Ultra 10 CD-ROM Drive and Hard Drive Installation Guide.
