Development Tools for the Java Platform
Sun development tools for the Java
version numbers of the Java tools you will see differ, depending on which version of
the Solaris software you chose at initial power on. For a summary of the versions,
see

Java Tools with the Solaris 7 3/99 Preinstalled Software
Java Development Kit 1.1.6 is your default Java environment. For more
information, refer to the readme file located at
http://java.sun.com/products/jdk/1.1/docs
Java 2 Software Development Kit 1.2 is a later version of Java Development Kit,
which includes Java Virtual Machine. To set this version as your default:
1. Become superuser by typing
2. At the # prompt type the following commands:
# rm /usr/java
# ln -s /opt/jdk1.2 /usr/java

Java 3D API is available in the Java2 Development Kit. For more information,

Note – OpenGL patches 107104-01 and 107105-01 are necessary for Java3D to work
correctly. These are preinstalled on your system. If you must restore the software,
refer to web site http://sunsolve.sun.com to download the patches.
Java Plug-In is a plug-in for the Netscape browser that provides complete support
for the standard Java runtime. For more information refer to the web site
http://java.sun.com/products/plugin
Note – You must install Java Plug-In into your .netscape directory using a script.
To run the script, type: /opt/plugin/plugin-111i-solaris2-sparc.bin
Java Media Framework is installed at /opt/jmf1.1. For more information, refer
