Using the SatSeconds™ Alarm Management System
4.5.4
The SatSeconds™ feature monitors both degree and duration of desaturation as an index of desat-
uration severity. Use the appropriate SatSeconds™ setting—Off, 10, 25, 50, or 100—to distinguish
clinically significant events from minor and brief desaturations that may result in nuisance alarms.
The SatSeconds™ alarm management system calculates the duration of the event multiplied by the
number of percentage points that saturation falls outside of the saturation alarm threshold. With
SatSeconds™, an alarm is triggered only when the SatSeconds™ value is reached.
For more information about SatSeconds™, reference
page 10-6.
