Busy Lamp Field (BLF)

The Busy Lamp Field (BLF) is a feature that lets you monitor calls.
When the BLF service is available, you can assign the BLF function to a feature key. The phone treats a
BLF feature key-press as a speed dial to call the monitored extension.
The following table lists typical BLF events, the operations that happen when the event occurs, and the
LED pattern for that event. Two or more events can happen at the same time, but the LED pattern shows
only one event at a time.

A call is parked

A call is parked against the
extension.
None of the sharing phones
is using the SCA.
Protocol error
Available Operation
Answer the call.
Barge in to do one of the following:
Fully participate in the call or conference.
Listen to the conversation without talking.
Listen to the conversation but talk only to
the monitored extension (a.k.a. coaching
or whispering).
There can be other variations along these
lines.
Resume and take over the call.
Pick up the call from the parking slot.
Make or transfer a call to the extension.
Available Operations
Pick up the parked call.
Seize the SCA to make an
outgoing call.
