Bi-Energy

This con sists of a com bi na tion of both gas o line (or
die sel) en gine and the 24V DC mo tor to give a
Bi-en ergy op tion.
Spe cif i cally, a col umn-mounted 24V DC mo tor is
lo cated un der the fibre glass cov ers. This pro vides
an al ter na tive power source to the gas o line en gine.
The DC mo tor is pow ered by four (4) "Deep Cy cle
trac tion Bat ter ies" and an au to matic bat tery
charger that are also mounted on the col umn un der
the covers.

DC motor operation

A switch, la belled Fuel/Elec tric, on the lower con -
trol box (see Fig ure 11.1) is used to se lect ei ther
the gas o line en gine or the DC mo tor.
If the DC mo tor
is se lected the gas o line en gine
will not start and if the gas o line en gine
lected the DC mo tor will not run.

DC mo tor will only "run" when a func tion is se lected
e.g. rais ing a boom.
There is a Mas ter Bat tery iso la tor Switch
mounted be hind the hy drau lic oil tank (see Fig ure

Batteries

Since the Bi-En ergy MHP is pow ered by "Deep Cy -
cle Traction Bat ter ies" par tic u lar at ten tion should
be paid to the bat ter ies on-board charger to en sure
proper op er a tion.
The bat ter ies are en closed be neath cov ers on ei -
ther side of the col umn as sem bly. (see Fig ure
11.3).

Raise the cov ers to gain ac cess to the bat ter ies
(see Fig ure 11.5).
NOTE:
These cov ers must also be raised whilst
