Automatic selection of redundant connections

The WSM supports dual-media configuration on the front-facing ports 1 to
4. The module automatically boots up and fails between the range 10/100
Mbps and 1000 Mbps port-pairs. The following list describes the order of
precedence:

If both the 10/100 Mbps and 1000 Mbps ports are inactive
If you activate the Gigabit Ethernet port first (by plugging a live
cable into the SX-jack), the port immediately becomes active.
If the user activates the 10/100 Mbps port first, it remains inactive
for a user-selectable time-out (default 1.5 seconds). If the Gigabit

Description
Indicates a 10/100BASE-T connection.
Indicates a 1000BASE-SX connection.
The port has not detected a fault condition.
The port detects a signal but no link.
The port is receiving data.
The switch power is off.
OR
The power is turned on and the module is going
through its power-on self-test and software
initialization. A module in this state is not yet
functional.
The module failed the power-on self-test.
The module completed the power-on self-test and
software initialization and is operating normally.
