2.0 Setup
SERIES 90 SYSTEM CONFIGURATION FILE
INTRODUCTION
The system configuration file is used to select the serial I/O device to be used to communicate
with the tester. Either a regular serial port (COM! or COM2) or the Cablescan serial port can be
selected. For the Cablescan port, the IRQ number can also be selected.
The file is a text format file that can be edited by a regular text editor. It has to be placed in the
\S90 directory and named SYSTEM.DEF in order to be read by the Series 90 during startup.
FORMAT
Each line in the text file contains a keyword followed by a '=' character followed by a parameter.
Upper and/or lower case characters can be used for both the keywords and the parameters. If any
keyword is not found in the file, the default value will be used. If the file does not exist, default
values will be used for all keywords. The following keywords are recognized:
COMPORT
IRQ
Defines what serial device to use
Defines the interrupt number for the Cablescan card
COMPORT recognizes the following parameters:
CABLESCAN
Selects the Cablescan serial card (default)
COM]
Selects communication port COM!:
COM2
Selects communication port COM2:
IRQ recognizes the following parameters:

Examples
Selects IRQ3
Selects IRQ5 (default)
Selects IRQ7
This file will select the Cablescan card and use IRQ7:
COMPORT=Cablescan
IRQ=7
This file will select COMl:
COMPORT=COMl
This file will select COM2. IRQ7 is ignored in this case:
COMPORT=COM2
IRQ=7
