2.0 Setup - Series 90/90HY
Software Installation
Series 90 update software is supplied on 3.5-inch floppy diskettes, which supersede your current
diskettes. They are installed as follows:
1.
Turn on the Series 90.
2. Execute EXIT TO DOS command through the System category window.
3. Insert floppy disk #1 into disk drive.
4. Type A:INSTALL followed with ENTER. Follow installation program prompts and
load the diskettes.
5. After the last diskette is loaded, reboot the Series 90.
SERIES 90 FIRMWARE
Description
Firmware for the Series 90 consists of PROMS - one located on the Scanner Control board and
one on each Scanner board. Scanner Control Board firmware is used to communicate between
the System Controller and the Scanner boards. The Scanner Control board interrupts commands
sent by the Controller and addresses the corresponding test points on the Scanner boards. Once
the correct test points are set up, the Scanner Control board performs a measurement and sends
the results back to the System Controller.
The Firmware on each Scanner Board controls that board's communication to the Scanner
Control board.
It
also controls the actual switching of test points and contains routines to
perform power-on self test.
Firmware Update Procedure
In order to add new features or to eliminate firmware problems, it may become necessary to
update the firmware. The procedure for firmware update includes removal of socketed PROMs
and replacing them with new PROMs. Depending on firmware update requirements, it may be
necessary to replace only the Scanner Control board PROM, or each of the Scanner board
PROMs, or all PROMs in the system.
Preparation
1. Disconnect and remove power cables.
2. Disconnect cable between System Controller and Expansion Cabinet.
3. Disconnect test fixture interface cabling from the Expansion Cabinet.
4. Place the Expansion Cabinet in a convenient work space. An anti-static workstation
is preferred.
