SOFTWARE AND FIRMWARE
The following software information supports Series 90/90HV setup and installation. The
information is provided in three parts: Software Updates, Series 90 Firmware, and Hard Disk
Setup. Software Updates describes the software package and how to install software updates.
Series 90 Firmware provides procedures on installing update firmware in the Series 90
Expansion Cabinets and Scanner Boards. Hard Disk Setup describes how the Series 90 hard disk
is set up.
SOFTWARE UPDATES
Description
The Series 90 Software is supplied on two 3.5-inch floppy diskettes, and comprises nine software
programs linked together by the main program, SERIES90.EXE. Each software program has a
revision number that can be read from DOS. From the DOS file directory listing, the time
displayed for a file corresponds to its revision number. Therefore, a time display of 1 :Ola
represents revision number 1.01. During software release, the DOS time display is set to
represent the revision number of the program. The programs and their respective file names are
listed below, followed by a description of each:

Series 90 programs are accessed through the opening screen of the Main Program. In addition,
the learn function and default option programming are performed from the Main Program.
BUILD PROGRAM - S90BUILD.EXE
The Build Program is used to assist the assembler in wiring a harness assembly or a backplane.
The Build Program is selected through the Run category of the Main Program.
PROGRAM EDITOR - S90EDIT.EXE

The Program Editor is used to keyboard-enter wire list programs. For build applications, notes
and pictures are assigned to assembly steps in the Program Editor. The Print, Import, and
Compile features in the editor are performed by accessing the appropriate programs. Refer to •
their respective paragraphs below for changes.
