Brake Maintenance

Checking the Brakes

Service Interval: Before each use or daily
Before starting the sprayer, lightly press the brake
pedal. If the pedal travels more than 1 inch (2.5 cm)
before you feel resistance, adjust the brakes; refer
to Adjusting the Brakes.
WARNING
If you operate the sprayer with poorly adjusted
or worn brakes, you could lose control of the
sprayer, resulting in serious injury or death
to you or bystanders.
Always check the brakes before operating the
sprayer and keep them properly adjusted and
repaired.

Adjusting the Brakes

Check the brake adjustment daily. If the brake pedal
travels more than 1 inch (2.5 cm) before you feel
resistance, adjust the brakes.
1.
Position the sprayer on a level surface, stop the
pump, stop the engine, and remove the ignition
key.
2.
Set the parking brake.
3.
Put the blocks under the wheels to prevent the
machine from rolling.
4.
Release the parking brake.
5.
Loosen the front nuts on the brake cables under
the front end of the sprayer

Tighten the rear nuts equally until the brake
pedal moves between 1/2 to 1 inch (1 to 2 cm)
before you feel resistance
Important:
Ensure that you tighten both
rear nuts equally so that the threaded ends
of the brake cables in front of the front nuts
are the same length.
7.
Tighten the front nuts.
