1. To help you work safely with Storwize V7000 Unified file modules, read the
safety information in "Safety" on page xi, "Safety statements" on page xiii,
and "Installation guidelines" on page 54.
2. To query and record the PCI slot settings prior to removing the system board
so that you can reapply the settings after the replacement, use the following
Advanced Settings Utility (ASU) command:
# asu show all --kcs | grep uEFI.PCIeGenSelection
uEFI.PCIeGenSelection.1=Gen2
uEFI.PCIeGenSelection.10=Gen2
uEFI.PCIeGenSelection.11=Gen2
uEFI.PCIeGenSelection.12=Gen2
uEFI.PCIeGenSelection.13=Gen2
uEFI.PCIeGenSelection.14=Gen2
uEFI.PCIeGenSelection.15=Gen2
uEFI.PCIeGenSelection.16=Gen2
uEFI.PCIeGenSelection.2=Gen1
uEFI.PCIeGenSelection.3=Gen2
uEFI.PCIeGenSelection.4=Gen2
uEFI.PCIeGenSelection.5=Gen2
uEFI.PCIeGenSelection.6=Gen2
uEFI.PCIeGenSelection.7=Gen2
uEFI.PCIeGenSelection.8=Gen2
uEFI.PCIeGenSelection.9=Gen2
Some of the PCI slots might be set to the Gen1 value instead of the default
Gen2 value. To reuse the same card in that slot, you must change the setting of
the new system board in the replacement procedure.
3. Turn off the file module and peripheral devices, then label and disconnect
both power cords and all external cables.
4. Pull the power supplies out of the rear of the server; just enough to disengage
them from the server.
5. Press down on the left and right side latches and pull the server out of the
rack enclosure until both slide rails lock.
6. Remove the cover, as described in "Removing the cover" on page 83.
7. Remove the PCI riser-card assembly that contains the adapter, as described in
"Removing a PCI riser-card assembly" on page 99.
v If you are removing an adapter from PCI expansion slot 1 or 2, remove PCI
riser-card assembly 1.
v If you are removing an adapter from PCI expansion slot 3 or 4, remove PCI
riser-card assembly 2.
8. Remove the SAS controller assembly, which includes the SAS riser card, from
the server, as described in "Removing the SAS riser-card and controller
assembly" on page 111.
9. If an Ethernet daughter card is installed in the server, remove it.
