3. Remove the DIMM air baffle, as described in "Removing the DIMM air baffle"
on page 93.
4. Open the retaining clip on each end of the DIMM connector.
Attention: To avoid breaking the retaining clips or damaging the DIMM
connectors, open and close the clips gently.
5. Touch the static-protective package that contains the DIMM to any unpainted
metal surface on the file module. Then, remove the DIMM from the package.
6. Turn the DIMM so that the DIMM keys align correctly with the connector.
7. Insert the DIMM into the connector by aligning the edges of the DIMM with
the slots at the ends of the DIMM connector.
Attention: If there is a gap between the DIMM and the retaining clips, the
DIMM has not been correctly inserted; open the retaining clips, remove the
DIMM, and then reinsert it.
8. Firmly press the DIMM straight down into the connector by applying pressure
on both ends of the DIMM simultaneously.
The retaining clips snap into the locked position when the DIMM is firmly
seated in the connector.
9. Repeat step 2 on page 132 through step 7 until all the new or replacement
DIMMs are installed.
10. Replace the DIMM air baffle, as described in "Installing the DIMM air baffle"
on page 94.
11. Replace the PCI riser card assemblies, as described in "Installing a PCI
riser-card assembly" on page 100.
12. Install the cover, as described in "Installing the cover" on page 84.
13. Slide the file module into the rack.
14. Reconnect the external cables; then, reconnect the power cords and turn on
the peripheral devices and the file module.
Note: You must wait approximately 2.5 minutes after you connect the power
cord of the file module to an electrical outlet before the power-control button
becomes active.
15. Go to the Setup utility and make sure that all the installed DIMMs are present
and enabled.

Removing a hot-swap fan

The following procedure is for a Tier 1 customer replaceable unit (CRU).
Replacement of Tier 1 CRUs is your responsibility. If IBM installs a Tier 1 CRU at
your request, you will be charged for the installation. Service agreements can be
purchased so that you can ask IBM to replace these units.
Attention:
To ensure proper server operation and cooling, if you remove a fan
you must install a replacement fan as soon as possible.
To remove any of the 3 replaceable fans, complete the following steps.
