Forces are applied to the lower leg area by means of a rigid frontal bridging
element for the ankle joint and a special adjustment mechanism. This results
in a change in the external frontal torque acting on the knee joint.
The orthosis can thus be set to relieve strain on either the lateral or medial
compartment.
